Connect Park Mosaic

The Connect Park Mosiac Sculpture was created by Mahemud Arskani, also known as Muni. The sculpture was commissioned by Peterborough City Council and installed in family park area with a children’s playground, outdoor gym, ping-pong tables and a seating area.  A central feature of the park is a large rock boulder created by local sculptor Claire Pope. Muni’s Mosaics held community workshops so that local children and adults could participate in creating mosaic hearts, mandala circles, simple flowers, and a few dragonflies to adorn the sculpture in a draped-over style reminiscent of lichen growing on a rock1.

The sclupture was erected in Connect Park, between Gladstone Street and Bourges Boulevard, for its opening in 2019. Unfortunately, the sculpture was smashed to smithereens in an act of vandalism in April 2022, angering a nearby artist2. Although the Connect Park Mosaic sculpture is no longer visible, it is hoped that many people will remember it from this page and those who haven’t yet seen it will be aware of its former presence.
