Endless Omen

EMMANUEL JEGEDE
Endless Omen
The name of the atist, Emmanuel Taiwo Jegede, is all that is known about this sculpture. He began his career as an apprentice to sculptor Pa Akerejola in Ekiti before moving to Lagos to study with Edo sculptor Osagie Osifo at the Yaba School of Technology. In 1963, he moved to the United Kingdom to study ornamental arts, interior design, sculpture, and bronze casting at Willesden College of Technology and Hammersmith College of Arts. Emmanuel is also a poet who works in a variety of media. He is influenced by his Yoruba Ekiti heritage while maintaining his unique aesthetic style. The image on the left depicts how the sculpture used to look. Regrettably, the sculpture is in ruins, and there is no record of what happened to it. The only element that is still visible in the park is the stump as seen in the image below.
