MILES DAVIES

Untitled 1989

The same way as Untitled 1990, lasers were used to cut the piece out of plate steel in the water tank. The artwork depicts a succession of door-like openings that are connected as they get smaller and open in different directions1. According to the inscription on the plaque, the title of this artwork is Untitled 1994. The measurements is approximately 296H x 150W x 97D cm.

Miles Davies studied fine art at Brighton Polytechnic and Leamington Spa School of Art between 1978 and 1981. He also studied at Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, 1991, and Bilston Art Gallery, 1994, and both hosted group exhibitions. Arnolfini, Bristol, 1990, and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, 1991, were two solo shows. Open Door, Ashton Court, Bristol, 1989, and the bronze and phosphor Aqueduct and Gates, Brindleyplace Plaza, Birmingham, 1995, were both commissioned by Brindleyplace Plc and the RBS after a competition2.

There is no local documentation on Miles Davies and both the sculptures Untitled 1989 and Untitled 1990. Please contact me if you have any additional information about the these sculptures that you would like to share. Thank you.
